Breakfast

I can't say this enough. Never skip breakfast! You have probably gone close to 8+ hours without eating. Your body can handle this while asleep but once you wake up it is important to get your metabolism going.

When you skip breakfast and go about your morning your body will use what little energy your body has stored. By the time lunch rolls around you will be starving. Most likely you will overeat and your body will not be able to process what you just consumed and therefore your weight will suffer.

You need, not should, need to eat breakfast and a small snack before lunch.

On the left is what I eat for breakfast. It's quick, it's good for you and most importantly it gets me ready for my day and my workout.  Trying to workout on a completely empty stomach is really just foolish.  How do you expect your body to do amazing things without refueling it?

Let me know what you are eating for breakfast.  Let me know if you are not eating breakfast and why. I'm interested in hearing from all of you.

  1. So excited about this blog! I had this for breakfast just yesterday after you suggested it to me on facebook. I was apprehensive about the coconut milk but ended up really liking it! I have always been a breakfast person...but for the last several month it came more in the form of a strawberry pop-tart(which I LOVE lol). Looking forward to seeing what all you have in store for us!

  4. I'm ready to get back on track with my food! My breakfast usually does get skipped on accident.I need to plan them in advance so I don't grab something fattening when I go get my coffee. I love all of the Justin's nut butters!!

  5. Morning meals are the hardest for me only during the work week. It takes about an hour or more before I am hungry. During the week I will eat a banana before I leave for work and cottage cheese once I get to the office. Weekends I will eat eggs and toast or something along that line of food.

    Thanks

  6. I had no idea that it was really THAT important to eat breakfast. Since you have told me I have been eating Koshi Island Vanilla..Yum! On the road it will have to be fruit or something. It is hard in a semi, with no way to heat or store much...but I am trying =)

  8. This - http://calulu.blogspot.com/2012/01/gluten-free-power-breakfast.html - is what I eat for breakfast when I'm eating right. I cannot handle oatmeal because of the gluten in it.

  11. I love coconut milk! Prefer it and almond milk over regular milk. The problem I have with eating breakfast I feel like I'm hungrier all day!

  12. Why do some people suggest having a glass of warm water with lemon first thing in the morning? Marlene

  13. From some research I have read it seems lemon water assists in cleansing the system of impurities, especially of the liver.
